NJ health care conference hosts top-level experts, leaders on Sept. 12

The New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters has opened registration for its 5th Annual State of the State in Healthcare Conference, slated for Thursday, Sept. 12, at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel Township, N.J.

The morning educational symposium features presentations and panels that include high-level government and health insurance executives and experts discussing the latest news regarding state health insurance news and federal health care reform.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., which includes continental breakfast.

Panel discussions and speakers will follow, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Scheduled to participate in a Federal and State Perspective Panel are the following:

  • Kenneth Kobylowski, commissioner of the Department of Business and Insurance
  • Jessica Waltman, NAHU senior vice president of government affairs
  • Dr. Jaime Torres, regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Reginald Slaten, associate regional administrator for the Division of Regional Health Plans Operations of HHS

The event’s keynote speaker will be Frank Winter, partnership manager for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, speaking on the New Jersey exchange/marketplace.

In addition, a health insurance carrier panel will include:

  • Michael Considine, director of commercial sales for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • John Lawrence, president of Aetna, Inc. New Jersey
  • Michael McGuire, president of United Health Care of NJ
  • Mike Munoz, senior vice president of sales and marketing for AmeriHealth NJ
  • Joseph Berardo, president and CEO at MagnaCare

The State of the State event will take place in the Robert B. Meyner Conference Center within tyhe PNC Bank Arts Center, located at exit 116 on the Garden State Parkway. [Click here for directions.]

Costs start at $25 for NJAHU members and $60 for non-members.

In addition, the event’s sponsor, InsuranceStudy.com, will provide vouchers for up to three hours of free online CE credits.
